These have to be the best fried onions for burgers and hot dogs – the perfect accompaniment for any BBQ. They are caramelised, sweet, tangy and full of flavour – they are always a great hit with family and friends.

- Heat the oil and butter in large frying over a low to medium heat. Add the onions and gently fry for 15 - 20 minutes or until softened and starting to turn golden.
- Stir in the ketchup, mustard, sugar and balsamic vinegar and mix through so the onions are fully coated. Now add to the softened onions and stir through until the onions are fully coated. Gently fry for 5-7 minutes until they are fully caramelised- season to taste. They are now ready to serve with burgers and hot dogs. Enjoy!
